A Chilly Morning in Tracy

It's September of '78 in Tracy, MN and things are getting to the point where you can start feeling a chill in the air when the shift starts. The engine facility there was a fairly rudimentary affair consisting of a small sand tower, a fuel stand, a small engine house and that's about it.

The above scene was shot on the Alco Line project, presently in my shop. The RS-3 is Atlas (custom weathered by myself), the engine house is Walthers, and the figures are by ModelU (painted by myself). Every business has its niche. Mine is highly finished, prototype-based layouts, finely detailed, with subtle artistic finish layers, and a fair amount of scratch-building.

This photo gives an overall view of the scene. On the left, you'll see a subtle line and some red screws. These mark a module joint, allowing for the layout to be disassembled prior to transport. The structures are sitting loosely in place and will be feathered into the scenery base upon delivery.

The graphic above shows the engine facility location on the layout as a whole.
