I recently finished an N scale model railroad based on the BNSF Hi-Line through Montana. The layout, 7 feet by 22 feet in size, features a number of scratch-built and heavily modified kits, dramatic rock formations, and numerous water crossings. You can see it in motion in THIS YouTube video.
Resin rock castings were used throughout.
This model of the station at Whitefish is a heavily modified commercial kit with over 300 parts!
The waterways feature fully detailed river bottoms followed by a resin pour. Note the whitecaps!
